The HRP world came to a screeching halt as Real Bull powered his way to a commanding 6L victory in the Preakness Stakes run at Pimlico racecourse on May 21st 2005. Real Bull came out of total obscurity and shocked the HRP community in establishing himself as a Grade 1 winner. The win gave Lanfranco Stables their frist graded stakes winner in the game.
Real Bull had done nothing special up to this point, so it was natural for the HRP regulars to be in total shock as he passed the wire first. But, Trainer Lanfranco believed in his horse enough to pay the $50 supplemental fee to enter the 2005 Preakness Stakes. There was a chance that Real Bull could be kept out of the race because he did not have any Graded stakes earnings. But Lanfranco was Lucky to get in the race with his black colt as there were several defections after the Kentucky Derby was run.
There was total Jubilation from Lanfranco and his fans as Real Bull earned what seemed as an easy victory. Lanfranco said later that it was the best moment of his online racing life when Real Bull won the race.
But, what's next for Real Bull? Was this a fluke as some has said? Can Real Bull do it again? Can he come back and run well in the Belmont Stakes? Running in the Belmont seems like the next logical step for Real Bull. But, Lanfranco has some doubts that the horse will be fully ready to compete in the Belmont.
