Loving the Game!

It's been awhile since I have posted any updates. In those two months, I have become a much better trainer at HRP. I have made a decision to play the game fully and will look to expand my stable in the coming months.

During all that time, I have got some big wins for my Stable. On Nov 4th, my horse Thunder Hoof won an Allowance race at Santa Anita. I seem to have finally figured him out and will now point him for a Stakes race at Hollywood Park Dec 6th. I am hoping he runs well as he's worked sharply at Hollywood in preparation.

My Star two year old Green Day Time has won 2 in a row and I am optimistic that he could be a good one. He won his maiden Oct 10th at Belmont Park and then came back to win Nov 15th in an Allowance at Hollywood Park. I really like the looks of this one and hopes I don't mess him up. Although I think he could probably win a Stakes race, I will run him again at the Allowance level for some more experience. His last race was a tough race and his upcoming works will tell me how he came out of it.

Racing Today!

The last day at Del Mar and I have Adieu 2 You running in an Allowance race today. The race looks to be tough, but I believe my horse should run a good race. Not sure if he can win it but a place or show would be good enough.

Thunder Hoof finally won for me on Aug 31st as I made some adjustments. He seems like a good one and I am hoping to develop him to run in a Stakes race next. He won a close contest over a Stakes winner from Jerry Garcia Racing.

I was happy to see Fiduciary win his maiden at Del Mar on Sept 5th second time out, to give me a nice record at the meeting. I am hoping he can win some races for me as I liked the way he was able to settle and run on late to win going away. Joe Talamo did a wonderful job to get this one to realx early.

I am glad the Auction starts today as I can now look to acquire some more stock.

Racing Notes!

This past week was very good for my stable. Got my 17th win in 100 starts with some nice efforts from a few of my auction buys. I am very happy with the direction of my stable. Now, I will look to obtain a few more quality horses in the next auction and build from that.

Triple Feature won for me on the 22nd Aug. in a very good maiden victory. She was working very well for the race and sat nicely off the speeds, actually she was between the three speed horses, but the jock told me she was going very easily and just pushed on when the real running began to draw off by 2 lengths. I am very impressed with the way she won.

Shnook won for me at Del Mar in a sharp maiden victory on the 21st Aug. He just blew by the filed to win by 3L eased up at the wire. I am very happy with that race and he could be very useful at the top meets. Some really good horses to be had in the auctions. Got this one for $4 and has since won $41, not a bad return on investment.

Pacifica ran a very game 2nd first time at a distance at Calder as I stepped her up from Maiden Claiming to Maiden Special Weights. She should be able to win at that level I believe after that performance. Her consistency meter was in the hole and I felt she needed a race, so I ran, not sure if it made a difference. Hopefully her meters can move up quicker as she's headed to Belmont Park next month.

Tardy Lightning rebounded with a nice 2nd in a $25 claimer at Calder. I do believe this horse is crying out for distance and he will get it next race, not sure where right now. I am also thinking of bumping him up in class, but will make that decision in a few weeks after I see a couple works. I am thinking I can steal one with him at the Allowance level in September.

Racing Notes!

Yesterday was a bad day at the track. My best chance was with Thunder Hoof at Saratoga 5.5f, and he was just too sharp early and led until the shadow of the wire to end up third. All in all, it was a good effort. He's had 2 sharp efforts since I got him in the auction. He has some qaulity and I feel pretty sure he should win his next race. Although he has a bit of quit in him, I am thinking of stretching him out further. Gelding could be an option at this point for him. I have tried working with him to settle and not quit, but the Geld might be the only option left even though he's a 3yo.

Racing Today!

I have got six races today and three again tomorrow. This the most horses that I have had running on one day since I have been back. A lot of checking today to make sure the instructions are ok and so forth.

I claimed the 2yo filly Poolside EC for $6.25 about a month ago and I have decided to take a shot at a 4.5f stake race at Charles Town today. She's trained very well for the race and is 2 for 2, but I don't know if she has the class to compete with these. She's listed at 8/1 morning line, I am just hoping she runs well.

I have Thunder Hoof running at Saratoga today in the 9th. He's listed at 2/1 morning line. He's very sharp coming off his last at Woodbine, but so is the #5 coming from Churchill Downs. Looks like a speed duel could develop, but I do think mine can tussle with this one and still win. I just can't let that one get an uncontested lead at 5.5f. I feel like I can have mine settle behind the #5 and push on for the win, but that's taking a big chance.
